BOSNIAN ELECTIONS IN CROATIA ON AUG. 31 AND SEPT. 1

ZAGREB, Aug 21 (Hina) - The first postwar elections in Bosnia- Herzegovina, scheduled for September 14, will be held for Bosnian citizens in Croatia on August 31 and September 1, the Croatian committee in charge of organizing the elections said on Wednesday. The committee said that out of 131,402 Bosnian voters registered in Croatia, 117,421 would be able to vote at more than 80 polling stations in Croatia and their ballots would be counted in places where they had lived before the war. The others would travel to Bosnia-Herzegovina to vote on September 14 either in former places of residence or in places where they would like to live in the future. The Croatian committee set the date in line with a decision by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), which is in charge of the first postwar elections in Bosnia-Herzegovina, that voting outside Bosnia-Herzegovina should be held between August 28 and September 3. The OSCE mission in Sarajevo said on Monday that the number of registered voters was estimated at 2.9 million, of whom 850,000 were abroad. (hina) vm 211428 MET aug 96
