The UNICEF Activity Plan Programme in Croatia includes
different health, education and social care projects for children,
which had been drawn up by the UNICEF with the consent and
cooperation of relevant Croatian ministries and with the
coordination of the Croatian Foreign Ministry.
The Programme is especially oriented on the psychological and
sociological rehabilitation of children in towns on the front lines
of battle, as well as care for displaced children and returnees.
The Programme also includes a plan for continuing successful
programmes concerning the promotion of breast-feeding and a
programme of informing children about the danger of mines and other
explosive devices.
These programmes are to be realized by UNICEF with the
cooperation of the Croatian Interior Ministry.
Special attention will be given to programmes for eastern
Slavonia, Baranja and western Srijem.
UNICEF's financial assistance envisaged for the programmes
from 1996 to 1998 would amount to more than U.S. $8 million U.S.,
the statement said.
