Present at the ceremony was also president of the Croatian
Parliament Vlatko Pavletic.
Congratulating the city authorities for this important
investment, Pavletic addressed the public by saying, "This is a
success of all those who envizaged the project and were consistent
to complete it with their knowledge and expertise.
I mean primarily the head of Split's leadership, Mayor
Grabic," Pavletic said.
"In the most difficult situation that Croatia was in, we are
managing to realize all over Croatia many things which are not
sufficiently known or recognized by those who do not like our
successes.
This, in Split, is worth many times more, because not only has
something which this town needed been realized, but also the
proficiency of the residents of Split has been confirmed, who have
invested in this project which has been planned for decades, but
has only now been realized," Pavletic said.
"We are on the verge of a completely new era in which
envisioned projects will be realized at a much quicker rate. This
is because Croatia will know how to manage its money and its
sovereignty and its independence, as well as all those credits we
will be given from abroad. We will use them for concrete things,
and not spend and squander them as had been the case in
'Titoslavia'," Pavletic said.
Besides tens of thousands of merry residents of Split, present
at the ceremony were also many respectable persons, among which
were the Croatian President's Chief-of-Staff Ivo Sanader,
Parliament representatives and many others.
Mayor Grabic thanked the residents of Split and stressed that
the plaque which had been uncovered on Friday would remain there
for centuries and that this was the nicest present to Split for its
1700th anniversary.
The construction of the main sewer cost 80 million kuna and
the Croatian water supply industry and the Croatian Development and
Reconstruction Ministry also provided assistance.
