ZAGREB, July 31 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on
Wednesday received the vice-president of the Federation of Bosnia-
Herzegovina Ejup Ganic at the latter's request, a statement from
the President's Office said.
After Ganic expressed his opinion as regarded the situation in
the Bosnian Federation, Tudjman said that problems must be solved
through talks between federal partners, Croats and Bosniacs.
Croatia firmly stood for a consistent and complete
implementation of the Washington and Dayton agreements,
particularly the agreement on the strengthening of the Federation
and its connection to Croatia, the Croatian President said.
In the implementation of Washington and Dayton, Croatia played
and would play a constructive part, but could not allow for those
cicles who wanted to discredit Dayton to do so behind the Croats'
back, President Tudjman pointed out.
Tudjman proposed that current problems be solved at meetings
of Croat and Bosniac representatives from the Federation and
meetings of the Joint Council for Cooperation Between the Republic
of Croatia, the Federation and Bosnia-Herzegovina, which was
established for that purpose.
Present at today's meeting were also Croatian Foreign Minsiter
Mate Granic, head of the President's Office Ivo Sanader, Croatian
Defense Minister Gojko Susak, president of the Bosnian Federation
Kresimir Zubak, U.S. Ambassadors to Bosnia and Croatia, John
Menzies and Peter Galbraith respectively, and Deputy EU High
Representative for Bosnia Michael Steiner, the statement from the
Croatian President's Office concluded.
