ZAGREB, 9 July (Hina) - The French Ambassador to Croatia, Jean-
Jacques Gaillarde, on Tuesday stated that the solving of the
problem of missing persons should be paralleled by peaceful
reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area. Gaillarde said that
the recent meeting of the Croatian and Yugoslav commissions for
missing and imprisoned persons was disappointing. #L#
'Regrettably, there is no progress regarding the solution of
the problem of missing persons from Vukovar and elsewhere',
Gaillarde said, adding that it was very important to try and solve
the problem along with the implementation of peaceful
reintegration. Otherwise, the problem could have a negative
political impact, the French ambassador said after a meeting with
the Croatian Vice Premier Ivica Kostovic.
The Croatian and Yugoslav commissions for missing persons met
last Friday in Belgrade to discuss, among other things, the problem
of missing Croats from Vukovar. The meeting ended without expected
results.
Vice Premier Kostovic said that Croatia will release all
prisoners of war after it establishes whether any of the imprisoned
should be tried.
Kostovic and Gaillarde discussed progress in the process of
peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area and help the
European Union could provide to the administration of the
Transitional Administrator Jacques Klein.
