The talks stressed the determination of Croatia and Croats in
Bosnia to implement the Washington and Dayton agreements, a
statement from the President's Office said.
The talks also stressed the necessity to strengthen the
Bosnian Federation and to pass the defense law as soon as possible,
in line with agreements, and to establish authorities in cantons of
the Federation.
The participants in the talks pointed out the importance of
connecting the Bosnian Federation with Croatia.
The implementation of the Mostar elections was described as
peaceful and correct, and the results were said to show that the
Bosnian HDZ was a pivotal party which had won the most trust of the
Croat people in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Also present at the talks were HDZ deputy presidents Gojko
Susak and Ivic Pasalic, HDZ Secretary General Ivan Valent and the
President's Chief-of-Staff Ivo Sanader.
The Bosnian HDZ delegation consisted of president Bozo Rajic,
deputy presidents Ivo Lozancic, Jozo Maric, Srecko Vucina,
Secretary General Zdenko Cosic and HDZ presidency member Kresimir
Zubak.
After the meeting, Rajic said that the talks had focused on
the results of Sunday's elections in Mostar and activities
regarding submitting lists of candidates for Bosnian elections in
September.
He added that the HDZ had won some 6,000 votes more than in
the 1990 elections, which "shows that HDZ has respectability,
strength and internal cohesion".
Rajic said that the Bosnian HDZ would approach the
organization of the September elections with equal responsibility,
adding that the lists consisted of representatives of all Croat
regions in Bosnia who, with their expertise and experience, could
represent the national interest of Croats in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
He announced that the 4th HDZ of Bosnia-Herzegovina convention
was to take place in late July or early August, at which the party
bodies would be nominated.
"This will be an introduction to the pre-election campaign
which I believe will end as a victory for the HDZ and the people
which it represents, Rajic said.
