ZAGREB, June 20 (Hina) - After an exhaustive discussion and with a majority of votes, Croatian Parliament House of Counties of Thursday supported the final Bill on the return and indemnity for confiscated property. Thirty nine
representatives voted, two voted against the bill and 5 were in abstention.

majority of votes, Croatian Parliament House of Counties of
Thursday supported the final Bill on the return and indemnity for
confiscated property.

The final Bill differentiates nationalized and confiscated
apartments.
According to the Bill, confiscated apartments are to be
returned to the previous owner and present residents with families
may continue using the apartment and are to sign a lease contract
with the proprietor, Justice Minister Miroslav Separovic explained.
Nationalized apartments can be bought by present residents and
the owners would get a compensation - 25% of the value of the
apartment in cash and the rest in bonds and stocks.
The Bill stipulates that successors, next and second next of
kin, have the right to inheritance of confiscated apartments and
compensation for nationalized apartments.
Resolutions of the Bill on were drafted to establish a balance
between the done wrongs and objective possibilities of the Croatian
state, Separovic said.
