ZAGREB, June 5 (Hina) - Croatian Upper House on Wednesday concluded
its 36th session which had begun on Tuesday.
The representatives supported a number of Bills in their first
reading, among which is a Bill on Mass Media.
The difference between this Bill and the present law on mass
media is that copyright, interview and privacy are concretely
defined.
The Bill provides the responsibility of the editor-in-chief
for editorial processing of the published information.
One of the suggestions is also the joint and several liability
of the publisher and source of information if the information which
had caused damage came from a news agency or other media.
The reason for passing a new act is the decision of the
Constitutional Court that the present law ceased to be effective
from June 30.
The Upper House supported financial documents regarding the
realization of the National Budget for 1995.
Deputy Finance Minister Mijo Jukic explained the overdraw in
the budget of 776 million kunas which had come about due to the
liberalization of occupied areas.
There had also been a minor shortfall due to a weak tourist
season, Jukic said.
