ZAGREB, June 6 (Hina) - The Centre for the Protection of Human
Rights of Imprisoned or Missing Croat Citizens, "Apel", on Thursday
forwarded a letter to the head of the European Community Monitory
Mission (ECMM) in Zagreb, Giorgio Franchetti Pardo.
The letter, among else, says:
"After the aggression of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) and
Serb paramilitary groups and after many exchanges of prisoners in
the past years, the fate of 2,766 persons remains unknown...
"Since ECMM monitors were present in Vukovar, we think your
mission too has a moral duty to take a more active role in solving
this problem. A part of your mission is in Belgrade and is in
condition to demand the publication of data in the hands of the
military chief commanders of the so called Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia (SRJ), in relation to the fate of imprisoned and missing
persons. Since the documentation was stored on the premises of the
Military Medical Academy (VMA) in Belgrade, but is no longer there,
we appeal to you to bring about the publication of the
documentation, that is to make it available to members of the
families of imprisoned and missing persons...
"We take advantage of this opportunity to appeal to you to
arrange a meeting with some foreign ministers of the countries of
the Contact Group and the European Union..."
