POLLING STATIONS FOR TEN ADVISORY REFERENDUMS CLOSE

ZAGREB, June 2 (Hina) - All polling stations in four Croatian counties where ten advisory referendums were held, closed at 19.00 hours on Sunday, the government commission for referendums said. By 17.00 hours, between approximatively 11 and 53 per cent of voters in the counties of Zagreb, Sisak, Pozega and Senj turned out for the vote called by the government to guage public opinion on the future territorial setup of local government units. The lowest turnout was recorded in the City of Zagreb where only 11.35 per cent of registered voters participated in the referendum. The aim of the referendum was to show whether the residents of Zagreb wanted their city to be separated from Zagreb County or to remain its part. Commission chairman Krunislav Olujic said that by 16.00 hours the commission had received not a single complaint about the organization or conduct of the referendums. The polling stations were required to send referendum results to the government commission by 19.00 hours on Tuesday. (hina) vm 022138 MET jun 96
