POLLING STATIONS FOR CONDUCTING TEN ADVISORY REFERENDUMS OPENED

ZAGREB, June 2 (Hina) - In the Zagreb County 1516 polling stations were opened on Sunday morning. Ten advisory referendums which had been scheduled by the Croatian government will be conducted to obtain public opinion on the future territorial organization of units of local government and self-government. According to official information, 950,051 voters were registered in electoral lists.
ZAGREB, June 2 (Hina) - In the Zagreb County 1516 polling stations were opened on Sunday morning. Ten advisory referendums which had been scheduled by the Croatian government will be conducted to obtain public opinion on the future territorial organization of units of local government and self-government. According to official information, 950,051 voters were registered in electoral lists. #L# Residents of the Zagreb County will convey whether they wanted the city of Zagreb to be separated into one territorial, administrative and self-administrative unit, congruous with its Constitutional status as capital. This would mean that the present region of the Zagreb County (the Zagreb ring) would make one county which would encompass the area of Progorje, Turopolje and a section of Moslavina. The residents of the town of Nasice, and counties of Djurdjenovac, Fericanci and Podgorac are to vote on their separation from the Pozega County and being encompassed in the Osijek County. Residents of the town of Novska are to vote on their separation from the Sisak County and entering the Pozega County. Residents of Ivanic Grad, Klostar Ivanic and Kriz are to vote on their separation from the Sisak County and joining into the Zagreb County. Residents of the island of Pag municipalities of Pag and Novalja are to vote on their exit from the Lika County and joining the Zadar County. Polling stations are to close on Sunday at 19.00 hours. The State Commission for conducting of referendums and the Croatian Constitutional Court are to oversee whether the referendums are being conducted in line with the law and the Constitution.
