SOLJIC WARNS ABOUT KISELJAK INCIDENT

SARAJEVO, 28. May (Hina/Habena) - Following incidents in Fojnica and Kiseljak, concerning arres of six members of the Bosnian Croat armed forces and two policemen from the Croatian republic of Herceg-Bosna and a disappearence of a vehice with two members of the BH Army, Defence Minister of the BH Federation Vladimir Soljic sent an open letter to commanders-in-chief of the HVO and the BH Army, generals Zivko Budimir and Rasim Delic respectivelly. In his letter Minister Soljic stresses the incident might have "serious consequences" and asks generals Budimir and Delic to handle "the situation" responsibly. I have learned, adds Minister Soljic, that on May 25 the BH Army military police arrested six members of the HVO and two policemen of the Croatian Republic of Herceg-Bosna under suspicion for involvement in the disappearance of a vehicle with two members of the BH Army on 24 May (according to some sources, on 23 May) in Kiseljak. "The BH Army police has violated the law and committed an act of violence. Consequently, if allegations about the disappearance of BH Army members in Kiseljak are true, that is lawlessness and should be condemned and punished," underscored Soljic, who ordered the two generals to do their best so that officers and rank-and-file would respect the law. I expect from the HVO to abstain from any illegal counter measures and from the BH Army to unconditionally release the arrested and provide the authorities with all the details about the two missing members of the BH Army, says Soljic in his letter. He also appeals to international factors, primarily IFOR and the international police to take part in the investigation of the case and prevent future incidents. After he has pointed that Croats and Muslims had paid a high price for their unnecessary and unfortunate confrontation, Soljic added that all those who are provoking another conflict should be stopped.
