MOSTAR, May 26 (Hina) - A group of about 40 Bosnian Moslems,
including a dozen police officers, attacked the UNHCR office in
east Mostar on Friday, Bosnian Croat police in west Mostar said
in a statement on Sunday.
The group stormed the UNHCR building in an attempt to
lynch a member of UNHCR staff, Denis Coric. He was arrested by
Moslem police and beaten in a vehicle.
Coric was sentenced to twenty days in prison for
"insulting the state, its president and the police," the
statement said, adding that the attack on the UNHCR building was
apparently prompted by the presence of an unnamed person who had
arrived from Nevesinje, a Serb-held town about 30 km east of
Mostar.
The statement said that the Moslem police in east Mostar
refused to cooperate with the Croat police in west Mostar in
solving the incident. The Croat police stressed good cooperation
with the Western European Union police force on the case.
