ZAGREB, May 23 (Hina) - The Croatian government on Thursday
directed several bills to the Croatian parliament, including a Bill
on Amendments to the Law on Courts of Justice.
Court-martials are based on the Regulation on Organization,
Activity and Domain of Jurisdiction Authority in War or Direct
Danger to the Independence and Integrity of the Republic of
Croatia.
According to Croatian Justice Minister Miroslav Separovic,
court-martials had fulfilled the aim for which they had been
established, and were therefore no longer necessary to our legal
system in most people's opinion. It was concluded that the duties
so far performed by military judges could now be performed by
regular judges.
According to a demand of the State Commission for the
Scheduling of Referenda, the Croatian government approved 5,08
million kuna (about 278,000 German marks) from the current
budgetary reserve for the scheduling of ten advisory referenda on
the redrawing of county boundaries, to take place on 2 June.
