ZAGREB, 16 May (Hina) - A two-day round table conference of
representatives of the 'Economist' and the Croatian government
started in Zagreb today. The conference was organised by 'The
Economist Conferences' and is attended by more than 120

institutions and large companies. #L#
Opening the seminar, Premier Zlatko Matesa recalled that in
the last several years the Croatian government had started the
establishment of legal, economic and financial infrastructure in
which there would be no difference between domestic and foreign
companies. Free transfer of capital is possible in Croatia, Matesa
said. The government has introduced the lowest profit tax and there
are no restrictions as regards the opening of banks, he said,
announcing the reduction of tax rates.
After the signing of an agreement on the rescheduling of debts
with the Paris and London Clubs, all conditions for a stronger
influx of foreign capital have been met, Matesa said, adding that
the government would support every investor.
