Granic informed Lass about the priorities of Croatian
politics, especially stressing the process of peaceful
reintegration of the occupied Croatian area in which the opening of
the Zagreb-Belgrade highway represented a great step forward.
Granic also informed Lass about the fact the Croatia had
signed contracts with some neighbouring countries on mutual
protection of minorities.
In the process of normalization of relations with Yugoslavia,
Croatia especially insisted on the issue of missing persons being
resolved, Granic said, adding that the issue came up on the agenda
of all meetings between Zagreb and Belgrade representatives. Granic
asked Lass to help in resolving the problem.
As regards the implementation of the Dayton peace accords,
Granic reiterated Croatia's support for the Agreement to be
implemented consistently and for strengthening the Federation of
Bosnia-Herzegovina, as well as its cooperation with Croatia.
Future elections in Bosnia-Herzegovina represent an important
test for the international community, Granic said, stressing the
importance of enabling all refugees and displaced persons to vote.
Freedom of movement in the whole of Bosnia and the ability to
vote were priorities of his Office, Lass said, adding that it was
also necessary for a successful implementation of the peace
process.
Lass stressed the need for respecting human rights and those
of minorities in the whole region of the former Yugoslavia, for
which his office was always ready to offer technical help.
