A short statement, issued today by the U.S. Embassy in
Sarajevo, said that the seven-day talks between Pardew and Croat
and Muslim representatives yielded considerable results, but no
final agreement on the Defence Act.
Pardew is to leave for Washington tomorrow, while the federal
partners are to continue talks on some unresolved issues, such as
the integration of the federal military forces and the deployment
of recruits.
The statement also recalled that the passage of the Defence
Act by the Federal Parliament was a prerequisite for the
implementation of the US-sponsored 'Equip and Train' program,
intended for the training of the Federation's army.
