Highest officials of the Republic and the Federation of
Bosnia-Herzegovina forwarded best wishes to Moslems on occasion of
their holiday.
The President of the Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Alija
Izetbegovic forwarded a message which said that "the same amount of
courage and hard work as was necessary in the struggle for freedom
is also needed in peace-time in which we celebrate this holiday".
The Kurban-Bayram has special meaning for Moslems because a
ceremonious slaughtering of animals for sacrifice is performed
after the morning prayer, and the meat is given to neighbours and
friends.
This is done as an expression of humility towards God,
following the example of two God's emissaries - Abraham and Ismail.
