SARAJEVO, April 26 (Hina) - Bosnian Ambassador to the UN in New York, Muhamed Sacirbej, on Friday rejected accusations that foreign forces exist in the area under Bosnian army control. "On behalf of president Izetbegovic, I reiterate that there are no foreign volunteers and that the government of Bosnia- Herzegovina did not organize any teams for annihilating political opponents or war criminals," Sacirbej told a news conference in Sarajevo.
#L# He stressed that accusations made recently by the "New York Times" which cited unnamed sources, against the government of Bosnia-Herzegovina, had to stop. "We suggested to the American government to tell us where the problem is so that we may try and resolve it. However, not one American official has told us that the U.S. government holds us responsible for whatever the New York Times writes," Sacirbej said, stressing that he spoke on behalf of president Izetbegovic. Commenting on an article in the latest issue of the Zagreb weekly "Feral Tribune", which cites the U.S. Congress' reports that there were 4 to 6 thousand mujahedeens still in Bosnia who worked as humanitarians, Sacirbej said that the time the document had been issued was not known, but that it was clear that this was done without the knowledge and support of the U.S. government. "I would say that the authors of the document are supporters of the "Great Serbia" idea," Sacirbej said. (hina) lm mm 262027 MET apr 96
