BOSNIAN PARTIES TO WITHDRAW TROOPS TO BARRACKS BY APR 20

SARAJEVO, April 13 (Hina) - The NATO-led peace Implementation Force (IFOR) in Bosnia said on Saturday it hoped all Bosnian parties would withdraw military forces to barracks and collect heavy weapons in conformity with a deadline set by the US-sponsored Dayton peace agreement. IFOR spokesman Major Charles de Normont told a press conference in Sarajevo that final assessment of compliance with the deadline known as D+120 would be known after a meeting of military commanders with IFOR commander Admiral Leighton Smith on April 20. Normont said that the process was making good progress, adding that IFOR troops continued to remove illegal checkpoints on roads. Thirty-two checkpoints had been dismantled in southwestern Bosnia so far, he said. UN spokesman Patrick Swenson said that International Police Task Force (IPTF) officials would meet Moslem and Croat police officials in the southern city of Mostar to ensure full freedom of movement in the area. Swenson said that IPTF officials would demand removal of all checkpoints restricting the freedom of movement of people and goods. (hina) vm 131644 MET apr 96
