ZADAR, April 10 (Hina) - The Zadar County Court on Wednesday
continued a hearing of eight Croats suspected of killing Serb
civilians after a Croatian military operation which crushed Serb
rebellion in central Croatia in August last year.
According to three separate indictments, four Croats were
charged with killing seven Serbs in the village of Varivode on
September 28; three Croats were charged with killing two Serbs in
the villages of Cakici and Ocestovo on August 20; and another five
Croats were charged with killing seven Serbs in the village of
Gosici near Knin on August 27 last year.
The hearing, which opened on Tuesday, was attended by European
observers and Croatian Helsinki Watch representatives.
Two suspects had rejected all charges on Tuesday. The hearing
of other suspects, held in Zadar County prison, would continue on
Thursday.
