Tuesday voted to open the bank to business with Croatia. #L#
"This decision is very important - besides its obvious
economic importance, there is also a political significance because
it shows progress in Croatian-American relations," Croatian
Ambassador to the United Staes, Miomir Zuzul, said on Tuesday
evening.
Exim Bank is a financial institution attached to the US
Administration, whose role is to credit exports and issue export
and investment guarantees. Tuesday's decision makes it possible for
US companies to invest in Croatia.
"In Croatia, Exim Bank will either directly credit US projects
or give guarantees to prospective investors," Zuzul said.
The decision came ahead of Trade Secretary Ron Brown's visit
to Croatia. The US delegation, which is to include representatives
of the leading US companies, will visit Zagreb and Dubrovnik from
the 2nd to the 5th of April.
