"The Croat side has long before fulfilled its duties under the
Dayton peace accords concerning the release of all prisoners. This
case is about ten prisoners who had been suspected of war crimes.
During the investigation there was no proof found of their crimes,
so they were released," The head of the Croat Herzeg-Bosnian Office
for the exchange of prisoners, Berislav Pusic, told a news
conference on Monday.
So far, the Serb side freed only 10 Croat prisoners. According
to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) data, there
were still 17 members of the Croat Defence Council (HVO) still
being held, and another 11 according to data of the Herzeg-Bosnian
Commission for Exchange.
"We are also looking for 5 civilians whom the Serb police
detained in the Bosanska Posavina area and are being held in
prisons," Pusic said.
There are seven Mujahedeens, citizens of Jordan, being held in
prisons in the Bosnian Croat-held territory. They have membership
cards of the Bosnian army and are members of the "El Mujaheed".
Pusic expressed readiness to hend them over to IFOR as well.
There were no other Bosnian army members held in the Croat
Herzeg-Bosnian prisons, Pusic said.
