COMMISSION FOR PROTECTION OF REFUGEES' PROPERTY RIGHTS ESTABLISHED

ESTABLISHED $ IN SARAJEVO SARAJEVO, March 20 (Hina) - UN High Commissioner for implementation of the peace agreement in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Carl Bildt, on Wednesday proclaimed the beginning of work of a special commission's office in Sarajevo which will help refugees to establish the right to their property which they had left behind in Bosnia-Herzegovina. At Wednesday's news conference Bildt said that the reconstruction of civilian life in Bosnia would enjoy special attention. Further political endeavours would be necessary to accomplish this, as well as the precondition of overall military security which the NATO force would continue to ensure, Bildt said. The Commission for the protection of property rights for refugees in Bosnia was established on the basis of annex 7 of the Dayton peace accords. It will work under the European Union control for the next five years. The task of the Commission is to ensure every refugee their right of claiming their property and selling or exchanging it. The Commission consists of 9 members - 4 representatives from the Bosnian Federation, 2 from the Serb entity and three experts on legal matters from Switzerland, Italy and Belgium . A law professor at the Rome University, Maria Rita Saulle, will preside over the commission. Saulle told reporters that all sides in Bosnia agreed that the decisions reached by the commission would be final as regards issues about accommodation of refugees. Local politicians who tried to prevent refugees from returning would not be able to count on the financial support of the international community, Bildt warned. (hina) lm jn 201648 MET mar 96
