After the meeting, Aksenjonk said that Russia hoped that
"the process of bringing together Croatia and Yugoslavia will
continue, which is closely linked with the task of reaching the
basic agreement on eastern Slavonia".
He added that his duty was to help carry out the process of
peaceful reintegration in a way which would be acceptable for
both sides.
"Aksenjonk informed us about the attitudes of local Serb
representatives regarding the peaceful reintegration. We, in
turn, informed him of the measures Croatia has been taking
regarding the reintegration - especially in connection with the
introduction of the Croatian currency in the region, the
deployment of Croatian policemen in the area and the opening of
roads," Kostovic said after the talks.
