Interior Minister Ivan Jarnjak strongly opposed such
proposals, adding that the Croatian police wanted to be what it is
on its own territory and with all its emblems.
The Government sent to the Parliament several bills, including
the Final Bill on reconstruction and the Bill on holidays which
proposes that the new holiday of the Republic of Croatia - the Day
of Homeland Gratitude - be celebrated on 5 August, as a sign of
gratitude to all those who had fallen for Croatia's independence.
