VOTE ON BILL ON COOPERATION WITH HAGUE TRIBUNAL POSTPONED

ZAGREB, March 1 (Hina) - The House of Representatives today closed a debate on a constitutional bill on cooperation between Croatia and the War Crimes Tribunal, which is in the first reading. The vote was postponed for the next session owing to a lack of quorum. Addressing the House before closure, Foreign Minister Mate Granic warned that there was not "much room to manoeuvre". "It is well known who is the aggressor and who the victim, but a crime is still a crime," Granic said, stressing that "Croatia must not cut itself off from the world." Now that Croatia's sovereignty and integrity was no longer in question, the most important thing is to ensure the stability of the state and to truly become a part of the Western world, to which Croatia belonged by rights. "By passing this Act and cooperating with the International Tribunal we can mend many things," Granic concluded. (hina) as 012035 MET mar 96
