WASHINGTON, Feb 20 (Hina) - The U.S. Administration on Tuesday described the situation in Mostar as significantly improved following last weekend's Rome meeting between U.S. and EU representatives and the presidents of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia. #L# "For the first time in three and a half years, baricades in Mostar have been lifted and people can travel from the eastern to the western part of town and vice versa. This is a significant accomplishment," a spokesman of the U.S State Department, Nicholas Burns said in Washington. "Due to tensions in Mostar and lack of trust between the Moslem and Croat communities, a lot still needs to be done," Burns said, adding that the U.S. expect problems to arise. Burns said that the U.S. Administration was concerned about reports that Bosnian Serbs were encouraging people to leave Sarajevan suburbs. "We call on Serb leaders to reconsider and we encourage the Bosnian Serbs to remain where they are," Burns said. (hina) lm bk 202342 MET feb 96
