IFOR LACKS ADEQUATE INFORMATION ON WAR CRIMINALS

ZAGREB, Feb 12 (Hina) - Implementation Force representatives said today they lacked the necessary data which would enable them to identify war crime suspects in Bosnia-Herzegovina. "We only received general information on 52 people whom the Hague Tribunal suspects of war crimes," said IFOR spokesman Thomas Moyer, adding that the reports received listed the suspects' names, ages and personal description. "Only fifteen photographs of suspects were provided, and even those were of poor quality," he added. IFOR has ventured no explanation as yet on how Karadzic managed to pull off a Houdini trick and travel from Pale to Banja Luka without being spotted by IFOR soldiers at any of the countless checkpoints between these two cities. Moyer admitted, however, that photographs of Karadzic and Mladic had not been distributed yet to the soldiers mannning the checkpoints. (hina) jn as 121646 MET feb 96
