WAR CRIMES INVESTIGATORS TO VISIT BOSNIA SOON - GOLDSTONE

SARAJEVO, Jan 22 (Hina) - The chief prosecutor of the International War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague, Richard Goldstone, said in Sarajevo on Monday that tribunal officials could soon arrive in Bosnia-Herzegovina to launch an investigation into mass graves. After talks with Admiral Leighton Smith, commander of the NATO-led peace Implementation Force (IFOR), Goldstone told reporters that he could not say when the investigation would begin but that he was certain that it would be in the very near future. He said his talks with IFOR officials focused on the establishing of a special office for liaison between the Hague tribunal and the IFOR in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Goldstone said he was confident that in that way the tribunal would get support it needed. He added that the fulfilment of the tribunal's demands would depend on IFOR's ability to meet them. Goldstone expressed satisfaction with IFOR's willingness to provide all necessary assistance to the tribunal. (hina) vm jn 221847 MET jan 96
