The investment funds were described as an ideal medium for a
projected mass privatization, Croatian economy was about to go
through, though no major effects should be expected in 1996.
Special attribute of the future funds were their main
shareholders, victims of war or displaced persons, which emphasized
their social and political dimension.
Several companies presented their projects on how to make the
scheme operating.
The national money market should also be automatized soon,
which would be enabled through a Croatian on-line money market -
COLMM.
The project has been planned by U.S. company Dow Jones
Telerate and its Croatian representative Infoinvest Co. The
agreement on the project was signed by Zagreb's Money Market and by
Croatian National Bank. First transactions through COLMM are
expected in April.
The Telerate system has so far been installed in over 80
countries world-wide.
