GENEVA, Feb 8 (Hina) - Croatia's envoy to the UN in Geneva Neven Madey on Thursday forwarded a government report to UN high official for human rights, Jose Ayala Llasso, on protection of human rights in Croatian areas which were
liberated in operations "Storm" and "Flash".

Madey on Thursday forwarded a government report to UN high official
for human rights, Jose Ayala Llasso, on protection of human rights
in Croatian areas which were liberated in operations "Storm" and
"Flash". #L#
With this report, the Croatian government responded to
Resolution 1095 of the UN Security Council and to the Croatian
President's statement in relation to human rights in the liberated
areas.
In the report, the Croatian Government listed measures taken
for the care for Serb people who have stayed in the liberated
Croatian areas, especially for older people.
The report also added statistical information about Serbs who
were permitted to return to Croatia to unite with their families as
well as information about criminal procedures against people who
had been suspected of committing crimes in the liberated areas.
Llasso thanked the Croatian Government and said that he would
include the information, along with his remarks, in the UN
Secretary-General's report which he is preparing for a session of
the Security Council in mid February.
Llasso added that he believed that he most recent report on
the human rights situation in Croatia would be objective and
balanced.
