ZAGREB, Jan 11 (Hina) - NATO Secretary General Javier Solana and
Supreme Allied Commander in Europe Gen. George Joulwan met for
talks with UN special envoy to former Yugoslavia Kofi Annan in
Zagreb on Thursday.
Cooperation between NATO and the UN has been excellent so
far and it is to be expected that a huge amount of work before us
will be carried out in an equally satisfactory manner, Solana
told reporters after the talks at UN headquarters.
Solana said that the NATO-led peace mission in Bosnia-
Herzegovina was on schedule, hoping that the Implementation Force
(IFOR) would meet its commitments within time limits set by the
Dayton peace agreement.
The NATO officials were received by Annan's deputy, Sadry
Behrooz, as Annan was late from a visit to Macedonia due to bad
weather.
Annan described the cooperation between the UN and NATO as
very good, stressing that the transfer of responsibilities for
the Bosnia mission was carried out without any problems.
Joulwan also praised their collaboration, saying that NATO
and the UN would continue to work as a team in a bid to bring
peace to Bosnia-Herzegovina and the former Yugoslavia.
