SARAJEVO, Jan 24 (Hina) - Senior officials of the Federation and the Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina met representatives of the Serb entity in Sarajevo for the first time today since 1992. The meeting, chaired by the High
Representative for the peace plan implementation, Carl Bildt, was attended by the Bosnian Prime Minister Haris Silajdzic, prime ministers designates of new government of the Federation and the Republic of Bosnia- Herzegovina, Hasan Muratovic and Izudin Kapetanovic, and the prime minister of the Serb entity Rajko Kasagic.
SARAJEVO, Jan 24 (Hina) - Senior officials of the Federation and
the Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina met representatives of the Serb
entity in Sarajevo for the first time today since 1992.
The meeting, chaired by the High Representative for the peace
plan implementation, Carl Bildt, was attended by the Bosnian Prime
Minister Haris Silajdzic, prime ministers designates of new
government of the Federation and the Republic of Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Hasan Muratovic and Izudin Kapetanovic, and the prime
minister of the Serb entity Rajko Kasagic. #L#
After the meeting Bildt said today's talks had initiated a
discussion on a series of basic issues in implementation of
military and civilian aspects of the peace deals. He added that an
amnesty act should be adopted in the Federation and in the Serb
entity and that the Federation and the Serb entity should change
constitutions to adjust them to the peace deals.
Although other participants did not give comments on the
talks, Bildt said 'all parties think a certain progress has been
made.'
While passing by reporters Silajdzic confirmed that the
meeting had been good. Asked by reporters how it had been to sit at
the same table by a former enemy, Silajdzic shortly replied that
now it was a peace time.
Bildt announced that a session would be held soon on
reconstruction of telecommunications and infrastructure in the
whole of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
A working group will be established to ensure equal rights for
usage of radio and television frequencies and relay systems in the
country. Bildt said this would be of crucial importance to the
performance of free and fair elections.
A new session at the level of premiers will soon take place in
Sarajevo and then in Banja Luka.
