TUZLA, Jan 23 (Hina) - A joint military commission of the IFOR
(Implementation Force) Sector North-East, held a meeting in the
Serb-held village of Sockovac, near Gracanica, on Tuesday. #L#
The commander of IFOR Sector North-East, Major-General William
Nash, the Bosnian Croat commander in the Vitez district, Brigadier
Drago Dragicevic, the commanders of the Bosnian Army 2nd and 3rd
Corps, Brigadier Sead Delic and Brigadier-General Sakib Mahmuljin,
and the commander of the Bosnian Serb 1st 'Krajina' corps, General
Miomir Talic, talked about the implementation of the Dayton deals
in the 30-day period following the achievement of the agreements.
Maj.Gen. Nash briefed in detail representatives of the three
sides on the next stage in implementation of the peace accords.
All participants in the session voiced satisfaction with the
implementation of the accords so far, and described today's meeting
as successful.
The IFOR commander said the meeting was effective and
professional. He added that all three parties had submitted reports
on implementation of the first stage of the deals. He said that the
three sides had withdrawn from demarcation lines, and added that
the biggest problem remained to be mine-sweeping from fields.
The HVO Brigadier Dragicevic said the session concluded that
Bosnian Croat forces had fulfilled their tasks in the first stage.
Serb General Talic said a 30-day time limit for clearing
mines, under the Dayton deal, was not reasonable, as Serbs need six
months for that job.
The joint military commission will hold meetings at Cerik,
under the HVO control, on Wednesday, and at Memici, under the
Bosnian Army control, on Thursday.
