ZAGREB, Jan 18 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament House of
Representatives today continued its session with a report by
Reconstruction and Development Minister Jure Radic on the Proposal
of National Program of Demographic Development of the Republic of
Croatia. #L#
Minister Radic said that today's demographic picture of
Croatia was the result of many historical, anti-Croatian
tendencies, especially in the last 45 years.
'Demographic situation in Croatia is very worrying and if
nothing is done to change it, our future will be grave', Radic
said, adding that for past several centuries in Croatia, less
children are being born every year.
It was necessary to take measures which would create
conditions for more children, less emigration, more returns of
Croatian emigrants and better distribution of population, which
today mainly lives in four Croatian cities, Radic said.
Today's discussion will be continued after Bulgarian President
Zeljo Zelev's address to a joint session of both parliamentary
houses.
