After the short stopover at the airport Ministers Kinkel and
Granic continued the trip to Mostar, accompanied by five IFOR
(Implementation Force) helicopters.
Before the departure Minister Granic told the Croatian news
agency, Hina, that the purpose of the one-day visit to Mostar and
talks with government officials of the Republic of Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Foreign Minister Sacirbey, Bosnian Federation leaders
and Mostar EU Administrator would be the strengthening of the
Federation, particularly in the city of Mostar.
Granic stressed that Croatia gave the firm and strategic
support to the Federation because of the survival of the Croatian
people in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the consolidation of the Federation
and its linking with Croatia and also because of all European
integrational processes.
Nobody is satisfied with the developments in Mostar, and the
problem must be solved by agreement and compromise. The Croatian
side offered a compromise for seeking the settlement and making the
demarcation lines between Mostar municipalities. This the only way
to solve the issue, as it can remove all possibilities of causing
incidents, Granic said.
After the Mostar talks German Foreign Minster Kinkel is due to
return to Split this afternoon and visit the German field hospital
in Trogir.
