BOSNIA'S NEW CENTRAL GOVERNMENT TO HAVE FIVE MINISTRIES

SARAJEVO, Jan 8 (Hina) - The Bosnian Assembly on Monday passed a law under which a new central government would be made up of five ministries. The ministries would includ foreign affairs, finance, justice and administration, refugees and emigration, and foreign trade, transport and communications. Besides a prime minister and five ministers, the central government would also include a minister without portfolio. The law was passed in line with the Dayton peace accord under which most authorities were to be transferred to the Moslem-Croat federation, with the central government retaining only those functions which guaranteed the continuity and sovereignty of Bosnia-Herzegovina as a single state. Social Democratic Party deputies refused to take part in the vote, demanding that the Assembly accept an earlier proposal from the Cabinet of Prime Minister Haris Silajdzic that the new central government should consist of 12 ministries.
