MOSTAR, Jan 6 (Hina) - Bosnian Croat Herzeg-Bosnia's police officials issued a statement Saturday, quoted by Herzeg-Bosnia's news agency Habena, offering details of the incident in which a Croat policeman had been shot and later died
after undergoing surgery in hospital.

Policeman Zeljko Ljubic, 30, was out on unarmed patrol which
was opened fire at from a ruined building controlled by eastern
Mostar (Bosniac) police, as shown in an investigation carried by
joint Bosnian Croat and European (WEU) police team.
The detectives with the WEU's Special Investigation Department
have searched the ruin and found bullet shells inside.
The commanding officer of the eastern Mostar police precinct
was informed on the findings and has vowed to do all he could in
order to find the perpetrator.
Dealing with political consequences of the incident the
Interior Ministry's statement said that the aim of the murder was
to undermine the peaceful settlement of the city's status.
