BORDER TRAFFIC BETWEEN CROATIA AND YUGOSLAVIA DELAYED TILL SUNDAY

( Editorial: --> 7235 ) VUKOVAR, Dec 10 (Hina) - Traffic between the border areas of Croatia and Yugoslavia will be established on Sunday, December 14, and not today as has been announced earlier, Croatian police and UNTAES sources said on Wednesday. UNTAES spokesman Douglas Coffman said that more than 4,000 passes had been issued so far to Croatian citizens living in the border area. Passes, which can be extended after a one-year period, enable their holders to stay three days in the border area of the neighbouring country. As of Monday, passes had also been issued to Croatian citizens who had settled in the area from other parts of Croatia, Coffman said. Croatian police said that newly-settled citizens would be able to use the passes until their return to their prewar homes. Eighteen Croatian and 12 Yugoslav municipalities are included in the border traffic system. The sources did not specify why the introduction of the border traffic system was delayed.
