CRO PRIME MINISTER SATISFIED WITH TWO-YEAR WORK OF GOVT ( Editorial: --> 8676 )

( Editorial: --> 8676 ) ZAGREB, Nov 6 (Hina) - "I am satisfied with what the Croatian government has done in the past two years," Croatian Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa said on Thursday. "Everything the government has done can be seen by looking at the reconstruction of the aggression-ravaged area, the improvement of the road infrastructure, the obtained credit rating of Croatia etc.," Matesa said. Asked about next year's budget, Matesa said that the budgetary deficit in 1996 was lower than planned, and would be the same in 1997. "The budgetary policy for 1998 will follow the path which makes Croatia an orderly European country," Matesa said. Speaking about the future tasks of the government, Matesa placed the pension plan rehabilitation to the forefront as a precondition for a secure life of future generations, further work on the road infrastructure, the reorganisation of Croatian tourism, Croatia's accession into European integrations, and stronger connections, especially with the CEFTA. Stressing that the peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area was a fait accompli for the Croatian government, Matesa said that future tasks include further reconstruction, and after the return of Croatian people, a stronger stimulation of the region's economy. He also stressed that the Croatian government was drawing up stimulation plans to attract state-of-the-art technology into Croatia. The government would submit a report on its work during their past two years under Matesa at a special session on Friday. Croatian President Franjo Tudjman is to preside the session.
