OSIJEK, Oct 28 (Hina) - Hungarian Ambassador to Croatia, Zsolt
Szalay, on Tuesday met representatives of the Croatian
municipality of Ernestinovo under the UN Transitional
Administration (UNTAES) where members of the Hungarian minority
had lived before the war.
At the meeting, held in Osijek, municipal authorities informed
Ambassador Szalay of problems in the reconstruction of the village
of Laslovo that used to be predominantly populated by Croatian
Hungarians before the war.
Laslovo representatives proposed that Hungary take part in the
reconstruction of the local water management system, the community
centre and the sport hall.
Describing the meeting as useful, Hungarian Ambassador said that he
would relay proposals to his government. He added that as of next
March more than 150 Hungarian SFOR troops would participate in
cleaning the village, filling in trenches and reconstructing the
roads.
