BRITISH AMBASSADOR TO CROATIA VISITS KNIN

KNIN, Oct 21 (Hina) - Britain's Ambassador to Croatia Colin Andrew Munroe on Tuesday visited Knin, where he held talks with the town's mayor, Milivoj Tomas. Talking about the situation in the town, Tomas said several companies will start working after the organization of the town's administration is completed. Up to 600 persons will thus be employed, which will reduce the number of families receiving social assistance, of which there are 840 in Knin at the moment, he added. Speaking about the return of Serbs, the Knin mayor said there are some 4,000 Serbs in Knin now, who make up one fourth of the town's population. Munroe was satisfied with the fact that Croats in Knin did not react negatively to the return of Serbs who fled the area after the Storm liberation action in 1995. He was also satisfied with the successful cooperation between Croatia and the international community. (hina) ha mm 211933 MET oct 97
