ZAGREB, 24 Sept (Hina) - The Croatian Deputy Foreign Minister
Ivo Sanader on Wednesday received the Belgian Premier's special
envoy for the Croatian Danube river region, Ambassador Tiery de
Grubben, a Foreign Ministry statement said. #L#
Sanader gave de Grubben a text with conclusions adopted at
a Government session on the Croatian Danube river region.
Sanader stressed the great achievements in the process of
peaceful reintegration of the Danube river region, which are the
result of cooperation between the Croatian Government and the
U.N. Transitional Administration in Eastern Slavonia.
Sanader reiterated Croatia's firm decision to do all it can
so that the completion of the UNTAES mandate could be successful
and timely. Pressure exerted on Croatia with the aim of speeding
up that process is therefore unnecessary and does not suit the
real situation, he added.
De Grubben conveyed the satisfaction of the Belgian
government with the recent moves of the Croatian government and
its efforts in implementing the peaceful reintegration of the
region.
De Grubben stressed the great importance of successful and
timely completion of the UNTAES mission, which, if completed in
that way, would become not only one of the most successful
missions, but also an example for other missions. He stressed the
importance of the monitoring mission of the Organisation for
Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), which should stay in
the area after the completion of the UNTAES mandate.
Sanader thanked De Grubben for his country's very positive
role in the process of peaceful reintegration and stressed the
role of the Belgian battalion, the statement said.
