ZAGREB, Sept 19 (Hina) - Croatian Deputy Foreign Minister Ivo
Sanader on Friday received Swiss Ambassador to Croatia Peter
Troendle.
Troendle announced the state secretary at the Swiss Foreign
Ministry, Jakov Kellemberg, would visit Croatia early next month.
During today's talks, Sanader and Troendle concluded there
were no open issues between Croatia and Switzerland, and that
Sanader's talks with Kellemberg should focus on the future
strengthening of economic cooperation, to which the recent
cancellation of visas for Croatian citizens would contribute.
Both parties expressed interest to consider the standpoints of
both countries in relation to Euro-Atlantic integrations.
Sanader informed the Swiss ambassador about the current
political situation in Croatia, with special stress on the
successful course of peaceful reintegration of the Danube region of
eastern Croatia.
Croatia's deputy foreign minister pointed out that the UN
Security Council's presidential statement was disappointing and did
not correspond to the actual situation in the Danube region. Croatia
would continue to fulfil all of its obligations with the aim to
effect a successful termination of the Danube region's peaceful
reintegration since, Sanader pointed out, this was in its national
interest. No international pressure was necessary, he added.
Sanader stressed the importance of a successful termination of
UNTAES' mandate on 15 January 1998 in line with the Zagreb-Erdut
Accord.
