Recalling that Italy was the first foreign trade partner to
Croatia, Olivieri stressed that Italy was interested in keeping
that position, and he would engage himself so that not only trade
between the two countries is augmented, but he would stimulate
direct investments of Italian business people.
He said he would also inform Italian business people
through seminars and meetings of business people and experts of
the two countries, about possibilities of Croatian economy.
Olivieri said Italy was Croatia's first partner at the
International Autumn Zagreb Fair in 1991, and when the fair had
been cancelled due to war, Italians had been partners next year,
1992. He stressed that he had felt a positive tendency at this
year's fair, which was a very good sign for Croatian economy, as
well as for increasing trade and economic cooperation between
Italy and Croatia.
