ZAGREB, Sept 16 (Hina) - The Council for International
Cooperation of the Zagreb Chamber of Commerce and the Warsaw
Chamber of Commerce held a session in Zagreb on Tuesday as part
of the Autumn International Trade Fair to discuss establishment
of regular economic cooperation.
The two chambers announced that they would sign a business
cooperation agreement on Wednesday, which Warsaw Chamber of
Commerce chairman Mieszyslaw Jakubowski described as "a good
start for economic cooperation" between Polish and Croatian
business people.
Jakubowski expressed hope that the agreement would make it
possible for the two chambers to have more influence in changing
the legislation of the two countries to create better conditions
for economic development and mutual cooperation.
He said that Poland supported Croatia's bid to enter the
Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA), which he said
would lead to the reduction of customs duties and boosting of
trade between the two countries.
Zagreb Chamber of Commerce chamber Vjekoslav Tomasic said
that trade between Croatia and Poland currently amounted to a
mere $100 million.
Tomasic said that there were great possibilities of
enhancing economic cooperation in the tourist, metal and
shipbuilding industries.
