"The government adopted a Report on the process of peaceful
reintegration and establishment of Croatia's constitutional and
legal order in the Osijek-Baranja and Vukovar-Srijem counties which
are now under the UN Transitional Administration.
The report was submitted by relevant ministries on everything
accomplished in the process of peaceful reintegration of the
Croatian Danube river region, in line with the Croatian government's
Letter of Intent.
The government established that it had fulfilled almost every
commitment from the Letter of Intent. It also agreed that an
extensive report should be drawn up about the implementation of the
Letter of Intent which will be submitted to the international
community," the statement said.
The government had adopted principles for the drafting of the
programme for accelerating the return, establishment of trust and
normalisation of life in war-ravaged Croatian areas. The programme
should be adopted by the government at its regular session on
Thursday.
The government forwarded to the Parliament a bill on the
revision of all acts passed by the illegal local self-government in
the Danubian area during the past several years.
"On this occasion the government again stressed that there is
no reason for the government to in any circumstance agree to the
extension of the UNTAES mandate. The government will continue to
exert maximal efforts in the cooperation with the international
community in the reconstruction, establishment of trust and full
reintegration of war-ravaged areas of Croatia," the statement said.
