ZAGREB, Sept 16 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on
Tuesday gave a former Bavarian prime minister, Max Streibl, a medal
of the order of Prince Trpimir with a collar and the Croatian
morning star.
Tudjman said the medal was awarded to Streibl as a token of
gratitude to him for all he had done while we was Bavarian Prime
Minister to help Croatia achieve its independence and for all he had
done for the benefit of the Croatian people.
At the ceremony attended by Croatian senior officials, Tudjman
expressed confidence in further development and promotion of
friendly ties between Croatia and Bavaria.
When he was presented with the medal, Streibl said that he had
always supported the idea of Croatian independence and that he was
very happy that efforts aimed at international recognition of
Croatia were eventually successful.
