ZAGREB, Sept 16 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic on
Tuesday received the OSCE High Commissioner for National
Minorities, Max van der Stoel. #L#
Granic informed van der Stoel about the process of the last
phase of the peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danube river
region, about talks he had held on Monday with his Yugoslav
counterpart, Milan Milutinovic, and agreements which had been
signed then, which would contribute to the successful and timely
completion of the UNTAES mandate on 15 January next year, a
Croatian Foreign Ministry statement said.
Speaking about his recent visit to Knin, van der Stoel
expressed criticism about the human rights situation in the area
last August.
Granic reiterated the firm resoluteness of the Croatian
government to consistently implement pledges from the Letter of
Intent forwarded to the UN security Council, and stressed the
necessity for the international community to show more interest
and care for displaced Croats from Bosnia-Herzegovina, especially
from Republika Srpska, who had found refuge in the former
occupied Croatian areas, as well as Croatian displaced persons
returning to the Croatian Danubian area and liberated areas.
